Nora & Bill Butrym

Nora and Bill have been athletes and sports enthusiasts all their lives. They played and coached their three children through basketball, baseball, soccer, volleyball and track while living in Illinois for 30 years before moving to Oconomowoc in 2020.

They were introduced to pickleball back in 1996 — yes, 1996 — when they moved into a house that had a pickleball court in its backyard! It was the heart of the neighborhood, bringing adults, kids, families and friends together for friendly and quite competitive play over the years. That court was busy from morning to night! Pickleball has meant community to them ever since, and they want to be a part of keeping it that way by bringing Fortify Pickleball to Lake Country for year-round play at The Social.

Al and Michelle SchmitzAl & Michelle SchmitzFounder

Al & Michelle Schmitz

Al and Michelle Schmitz have called Lake Country home their entire lives, where they raised their three children and remain deeply rooted in the community. While they spend winters in Naples, FL, Lake Country is always where they come back to — and the pickleball courts are never far behind. Active by nature, Al and Michelle discovered pickleball as the perfect blend of competition, connection, and the simple satisfaction of watching your game get better the more you play — a feeling they see reflected in friends and neighbors every time they step on the court. With Al’s parents still playing twice a week in their 80s, they know firsthand that pickleball is a sport for every generation. Investing in this facility was a natural extension of their love for Lake Country and their belief that great communities deserve great places to play.

Jim and Lisa WinklerJim & Lisa WinklerFounder

Jim & Lisa Winkler

Jim and Lisa have lived on Okauchee Lake since 2004 and currently split their time between Lake Country and Scottsdale, AZ. They have five grown children and 4 grandchildren, most of them living in Lake Country as well.

Lisa and Jim are entrepreneurs that have been involved in health and wellness for the last 30 years and see pickleball as a great way for people to achieve a healthier, happier life. Over the last five years they have developed a shared love of pickleball and their goal is to introduce the sport to as many people as possible.

Jim is a DUPR Coach and loves helping people improve their game. He recently won a Bronze at the US Open in the Mixed Doubles 4.0+, 60–64 age category and his goal is to play on the Senior Pro Tour in the near future.

They are extremely excited to bring the Fortify premier indoor pickleball club to the Lake Country area and share it with their community of family and friends.

Bill and Jill CzechBill & Jill CzechFounder

Bill & Jill Czech

Bill grew up and still lives in Lake Country. He fell in love with the game after retiring in January of 2023. Bill plays at least 5 times a week either when in town here or snowbirding in Florida. It’s Jill’s fault, as she got him started playing this crazy game. Bill is a 2026 Silver Medal winner at the US Open in Naples.

Jill is an Illinois transplant and has lived in Lake Country for over 40 years. She loves playing pickleball, hiking, skiing, kayaking and being outdoors whenever she can be.

We look forward to playing with old friends and meeting new ones at Fortify at The Social.
